Reborn Electric Motors, Chile’s first and only electric bus factory, has announced its international expansion with the export of an urban model specifically designed for Brazil. This marks the first bus manufactured domestically to be exported abroad. The bus, tailored for Brazil's public transport needs, is currently undergoing homologation in the country and was shipped with a certificate of origin, establishing Reborn as a leader in electromobility in Latin America. It is the first bus developed by Reborn Electric Motors for public transport and the third to be homologated in Chile according to the requirements of the Ministry of Transport.
This high-standard urban bus features air conditioning, USB ports, Wi-Fi, and a ramp-lift for universal accessibility. With a capacity for 42 passengers, an approximate range of 200 kilometers, and rapid charging capability (from 20% to 95% in 45 minutes), it is designed to operate in challenging terrains, handling steep slopes and difficult roads with ease.
Since its founding in 2017, Reborn Electric Motors has demonstrated a strong commitment to sustainability and innovation. Led by young entrepreneurs Ricardo Repenning and Felipe Cevallos, the startup has established a successful trajectory in manufacturing brand-new electric buses. In 2022, they inaugurated Chile's first electric bus factory in Rancagua, along with a Research and Development Center.
With over 100 units operating in Chile's transportation industry and a solid partnership with Link+, Reborn has cemented its position as a leader in zero-emission vehicles in Latin America. In 2023, the company participated in COP28 in Dubai, invited by ProChile, and signed a public-private partnership to develop the first green hydrogen bus made in Chile, expected to be operational by 2025.
"We are very pleased to take this new step in the internationalization of our company. It has been a challenging journey, built step by step, with extensive research and teamwork. We could not have achieved this without the invaluable support of ProChile," said Ricardo Repenning and Felipe Cevallos, co-founders of Reborn Electric Motors.
The export of this urban model to Brazil represents a significant milestone in Reborn Electric Motors' international expansion, reaffirming its commitment to electromobility and innovation in sustainable transportation.
