As the first global assessment of the Paris Agreement signed in 2021 will be released, COP28 will mark a relevant milestone that will push various decisions that countries can take to make a difference in terms of sustainability and climate change.

During this instance, Reborn Electric Motors (REM) will present its line of products, while highlighting the manufacture of zero kilometers buses and the extensive history of conversion from diesel to electric along with showing the operation of the entire new fleet of 104 vehicles, operational in the large project implemented in the El Teniente Division of Codelco, in Rancagua.

This electromobility solution has completely transformed the personnel transportation operation inside the DET mine, making it 100% electric. In this context, Felipe Cevallos, the general manager and co-founder of the chilean startup, pointed out “it’s really important that a country with an industry focused on fossil fuels (oil, gas and coal) takes charge of such relevant bodies like the COP, since this demonstrates a commitment to continuous improvement where all companies have a responsibility with society and the planet”.

Currently REM has a fleet of 104 electric buses, the first to operate within a deposit of these characteristics in the world. In 2022, the company launched its factory located in the city of Rancagua, the first one focused on the manufacturing and remanufacturing of electric buses in Latin America. This establishment covers a space of 3 thousand square meters distributed between offices, meeting rooms, recreation places and warehouses where the company can develop around 200 electric buses each year.

“As a company that grows daily, it challenges us to represent our country in the international arena to demonstrate that cutting-edge technology can be developed in Chile, as well as moving towards less polluting models, decarbonize the mining operation and eventually go hand in hand with other industries”, Cevallos concluded.
